Talking It Over
During your consultation, Dr. Galante will explain the procedure and his technique in detail. He will examine your neck and chin, checking for fat deposits, muscle and skin tone. Dr. Galante is extremely personable, and he will encourage you to ask questions about the procedure.
Dr. Galante performs neck lifts on an outpatient basis, meaning you can return home the same day. Neck lifts often take place under general anesthesia, allowing you to sleep through surgery. They can also take place under local anesthesia and sedation, meaning you can be awake and comfortable for your procedure. Neck lift procedures typically take approximately 1 hour.
Neck lift surgery requires a very small incision in the chin. Dr. Galante carefully places this incision in a natural crease to reduce the visibility of the scar.
When a larger amount of excess skin requires removal and tightening, additional incisions may be necessary under the chin or behind the earlobes. Dr. Galante then removes the excess skin and sutures and bandages the incision.
Team up with an honest, approachable plastic surgeon who will work with you to achieve your goals. Look & feel better with Dr. Galante.
Neck Lift for Men
A strong jaw and prominent chin are key masculine features, so definition and contouring of these areas is often desired. A neck lift can reshape the neck and jaw for men with loose skin, extra fat pockets, or lack of definition. Surgeons must be especially careful to preserve the masculine features of their male patients.
Generally, men's jawlines are sharper and more prominent than women's. Surgeons must also take the Adam's Apple into consideration for male patients. If a surgeon is not experienced or mindful, it can result in discomfort and undesirable results. While there aren't great differences between male and female neck lifts, it is still important to find a surgeon that is highly qualified in male plastic surgery. Dr. Galante specializes in surgery for men, such as neck lift, and understands the subtle differences of the male face.

After Your Neck Lift Procedure
You will receive a compression band to wear around your neck for 1 week to keep your neck firmly shaped. Your neck may feel sore and stiff for a few days following the surgery. Bruising and swelling are also normal reactions. Dr. Galante may provide antibiotics to prevent infection at the incision site, and he may prescribe pain medication for any discomfort.
Many patients return to work and light activities a week after surgery. Bruising and swelling will gradually subside over a 2- to 3-week period.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I get a neck lift or liposuction?
Liposuction alone can provide excellent results for neck lift candidates in some cases. Removing fat can restore the neck's definition if your skin retains its elasticity and tone, so that it "bounces back" after underlying fat is removed. This is often the case for younger patients. Lax skin or more pronounced signs of aging, such as a "turkey wattle" or jowls, cannot be corrected through liposuction alone, however. In these cases, a neck lift is recommended.
Can I get a neck lift without a facelift?
Although Dr. Galante often combines the 2 procedures in a single operation, some patients can achieve their cosmetic goals with only a neck lift. On the other hand, it's uncommon that a patient who is ready for a facelift would not also benefit from a neck lift. If you think you might be a candidate for either treatment, Dr. Galante can evaluate you during a consultation.
Are there non-surgical alternatives to a neck lift?
There are non-invasive procedures that claim to offer results comparable to a surgical neck lift. These devices typically use energy to tighten skin and destroy fat. However, nothing compares to surgery. Patients with moderate to advanced signs of aging will see much greater benefits that will last longer with a true neck lift.
