Dr. Rebecca Garza’s breast reduction patients from Munster, Crown Point, and surrounding communities often say their procedures have significantly improved their lives and enhanced their self-esteem. Many say they waited too long to have the procedure. Dr. Garza, who is a board-certified plastic surgeon, performs breast reduction to help Indiana women who experience back, shoulder and neck pain because of their overly large breasts. This procedure can also relieve the physical restrictions, clothing issues and unwanted attention often associated with excessive breast size.

Talking It Over
In general, breast reduction can improve your quality of life. It offers a wide range of benefits including:
- Enhanced self-esteem
- Freedom from the physical pain and burden of heavy breasts
- Relief from self-consciousness over unwanted attention
- Increased ability to comfortably participate in physical activities such as jogging, horseback riding, and dancing
During your consultation, you can ask questions and discuss your goals and concerns with complete confidentiality. Either Dr. Garza will explain all of your options for surgery and possible outcomes. To help communicate your goals, you may want to bring pictures of breast sizes and shapes you like.
You will be under general anesthesia, so you will sleep through your surgery. Dr. Garza normally performs breast reduction as an outpatient procedure, meaning you can return home the same day. However, you will need someone to drive you home and care for you for the first few days.
During the procedure, Dr. Garza removes excess skin, fat and tissue from the breasts. They also reposition the nipples and, if desired, reduce the size of the areolas (the darker skin surrounding the nipples). She then reshapes the breasts to make them physically smaller yet natural-looking.
Welcome to Our Practice
Board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Rebecca Garza and Dr. Gus Galante have established a plastic surgery practice dedicated to providing personalized care that gives you the confidence to make educated decisions about your surgery. Together with a hand-selected team of professionals who share our passion for patient care, we offer a range of surgical procedures designed to help you look and feel your best.
Both Dr. Garza and Dr. Galante are fellowship-trained plastic surgeons at the forefront of the aesthetic surgery field. They are each active in professional associations and have given back to the community by donating their time and services to local charity organizations.
- Dr. Garza also performs a breast lift as part of breast reduction. To only correct issues such as sagging and skin laxity with minimal to no removal of breast tissue, she may recommend a breast lift instead of a reduction procedure.
- For answers to some common questions about cosmetic procedures, review our FAQs page.
After Your Breast Reduction Procedure
After surgery, you will have stitches and possibly drainage tubes to remove any excess fluids. Your breasts will be bandaged for support and to protect the incisions. You will receive detailed instructions about keeping the incisions clean, and the stitches will be removed within the first week.
A Reputation Built on Results
Recovery from breast reduction surgery is usually less painful than most women expect. This is because the nerves and skin at the surgery site have been stretched considerably for a long time, which makes them less sensitive. You will be sore for a few days, and you can manage any discomfort with prescribed medication. You can resume light activities after a few days, depending on your level of soreness.
The perfect gift for the beautiful person in your life.
