Procedure Specifics
During a breast lift, Dr. Garza elevates the breasts by removing excess skin, fat, and other tissue. They also reposition the nipples and, if desired, reduce the size of the areolas (the darker skin surrounding the nipples). They then reshape the breasts to make them rounder and more youthful-looking.
In most cases, Dr. Garza will use one of 3 common breast lift techniques:
- Anchor-shaped incision
- Vertical or lollipop incision
- Concentric (doughnut) incision
You will be under general anesthesia, so you will sleep through your surgery. Dr. Garza normally performs breast lift surgery as an outpatient procedure, meaning you can return home the same day. However, you will need someone to drive you home and care for you for the first few days.

After Your Breast Lift Procedure
After surgery, Dr. Garza will dress your incisions with light bandages. She will give you detailed post-surgical instructions and prescribe medication for any discomfort. Your breasts will be sore for approximately 3 days. You will need to wear a support bra for at least a few weeks and up to a few months. You’ll need to avoid wearing underwire bras until you heal completely.
Breast lift patients should limit active movement for at least the first few days to avoid pulling the stitches. Although you can resume light activities in 7 to 10 days, you should avoid strenuous movements and heavy lifting for several weeks. As with all surgery, breast lift surgery will leave scars, but they usually fade within the first year.
A Reputation Built on Results
It’s important to remember that a combined breast procedure requires a bit more recuperation time than a singular procedure would, and may also require the use of surgical drains. Dr. Garza wants you to be comfortable and safe during your own recuperation, and they will give you specific post-op instructions prior to your surgery.
