Gustavo E. Galante, M.D. - Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
If you're like most women, your breasts will begin to sag over time, for reasons that may include age, breastfeeding, weight changes, and genetics. Mastopexy, often called a breast lift, is a surgical procedure that lifts and reshapes sagging breasts. A breast lift in Indiana with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gus Galante can help your breasts have a more youthful, perky shape again.

Talking It Over
You can discuss your goals and expectations at your consultation. If you have pictures of the size and shape of breasts you like, bring them with you to help communicate your goals for surgery. Dr. Galante is very approachable and will encourage you to ask questions. Your peace of mind and confidence are of the utmost importance.
During a breast lift, Dr. Galante raises the breasts by removing excess skin, fat and other tissue. He also repositions the nipples and, if desired, reduces the size of the areolas (the darker skin surrounding the nipples). He then reshapes the breasts to make them rounder and more youthful looking.
In most cases, Dr. Galante will use one of 3 common breast lift techniques:
- Anchor-shaped incision
- Vertical or lollipop incision
- Concentric (doughnut) incision
You will be under general anesthesia, so you will sleep through your surgery. Dr. Galante normally performs breast lift surgery as an outpatient procedure, meaning you can return home the same day. However, you will need someone to drive you home and care for you for the first few days.
Team up with an honest, approachable plastic surgeon who will work with you to achieve your goals. Look & feel better with Dr. Galante.
Breast Lift With Augmentation
In some cases, Dr. Galante may recommend a combined approach to breast lift using breast implants. By performing breast lift in conjunction with breast augmentation, patients can enjoy fuller, more youthful-looking breasts.
Combining breast augmentation with lift both increases the size of the breasts and lifts them to a higher position on the chest. While a breast lift on its own is often sufficient for some patients, a number of women see better results from a combined approach.

After Your Breast Lift Procedure
After surgery, Dr. Galante will dress your incisions with light bandages. He will give you detailed post-surgical instructions and prescribe medication for any discomfort. Your breasts will be sore for approximately 3 days. You will need to wear a support bra for at least a few weeks and up to a few months. You'll need to avoid wearing underwire bras until you heal completely.
Breast lift patients should limit active movement for at least the first few days to avoid pulling the stitches. Although you can resume light activities in 7 to 10 days, you should avoid strenuous movements and heavy lifting for several weeks.
It's important to remember that a combined breast procedure requires a bit more recuperation time than a singular procedure would, and may also require the use of surgical drains. Dr. Galante wants you to be comfortable and safe during your own recuperation, and he will give you specific post-op instructions prior to your surgery.
