This 37 year old Indiana man shown here in these before and after photos presented to our Munster, Indiana plastic surgery office in consultation for liposuction. He discussed with Dr. Galante, a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in liposuction, his concerns regarding his waistline. He specifically wanted to improve the contour of his protruding abdomen and flanks (love handles).
He had localized collections of fat on his abdomen and flanks, which is common for men desiring treatment for this problem. He had good skin tone, and he was otherwise healthy. The importance of quality skin overlying fatty areas to be treated cannot be
underemphasized. Once the fat is removed from a treated area, the skin must shrink down over the newly contoured fat in order to obtain a smooth and even result. Sometimes an abdominoplasty (tummy-tuck) instead of liposuction is needed if there is excessive skin present.
He underwent this liposuction procedure on his abdomen and flanks as an outpatient at one of the surgery centers in Northwest Indiana used by Dr. Galante. It was done with a local anesthetic and sedation, but general anesthesia is also an option if desired by the patient or surgeon. He was able to shower the day after surgery and he was instructed to wear a compression garment to aid the skin heal evenly over the newly contoured fat.
The photos demonstrate the improvement in his waistline that was gained from the liposuction. His clothing fit better, and he was very satisfied with this result. Liposuction is one of the more common surgical procedures sought out by men now that cosmetic surgery in men has been gaining in popularity and has become more acceptable.
If you are seeking body contouring, a personal consultation with Dr. Galante in either of his Schererville or Valparaiso, Indiana offices can help determine whether you are a candidate for liposuction.
