This registered nurse, 24, has no children and came to our office to consult about breast augmentation. A rural Indiana resident, she decided to have Natrelle® style 20 375 cc silicone implants inserted beneath the pectoral muscles.
She and Dr. Galante ultimately decided on this specific implant after a thorough discussion about the patient's options, goals, and health history. Patients often prefer submuscular placement because there is less chance of capsular contracture, the primary complication associated with breast augmentation.
Dr. Galante also tends to prefer this placement method because it can provide very natural-looking results especially for patients who have little of their own breast tissue to start. Dr. Galante will sometimes place implants above the pectoral muscles, though, especially for patients who require a shorter recovery period for work or to care for small children.
As you can see from this patient's before-and-after photos, the surgery resulted in breasts that have significantly more volume but still appear natural on the woman's frame. Her scars are mostly hidden in the crease beneath her breasts because Dr. Galante used an inframammary incision, and the scars will continue to fade with time.
If you are interested in breast enhancement surgery, request a consultation to meet with Dr. Galante at one of his offices, or call his practice at (219) 322-3131 to schedule an appointment.
