Facelift Before & After Case 23

This 65 year old Indiana woman is seen here before and after an eyelid lift and facelift surgery. She presented to Dr. Galante, a Northwest Indiana plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic surgery, to his Valparaiso office in consultation for rejuvenation of her face and eyes. She had endless energy and wanted her external appearance to reflect what she felt inside.

Her exam which is noted on her before photos shows excess skin on her upper eyelids, facial laxity, jowls, and loose skin underneath her chin. The treatment for this was a blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) and a rhytidectomy (facelift). The eyelid lift would remove the redundant skin that was hanging over her eyelids, and the facelift would improve the appearance of her jaw line and neck. It is not uncommon to have more than one cosmetic surgical procedure performed at the same time as it saves the patient recovery time and from undergoing an another anesthetic.

She was a cigarette smoker and discontinued this habit weeks before undergoing a facelift. Nicotine is known to increase the risk for wound healing problems for any type of facial cosmetic surgery. She had her eyelid and facelift procedures completed together as an outpatient under general anesthesia in one of the Indiana surgical centers used by Dr. Galante to perform eyelid lift and facelift surgery. This patient was able to shower after two days, and all of her sutures were removed by the ninth day. She returned to her employment shortly thereafter.

The photos of her eyelid lift and facelift surgery demonstrate the improvement obtained which gave her a rested and natural look. Combining these two procedures had the added advantage of complementing each other to beautify her entire face. Browlift and laser skin resurfacing are other procedures that can be performed with these simultaneously.
