This 65-year-old woman came in for a consultation to discuss the options available to improve the appearance of saggy skin on her neck and droopy eyelids. After a thorough discussion and examination, I recommended combining blepharoplasty eyelid surgery with a facelift to get optimal results. At my Indiana practice, I find that combination is often appropriate for patients who are looking for over-all facial rejuvenation.

A facelift improves the appearance of the lower face, including the neck. As you can see from the before-and-after photos, she now has a more prominent chin and a sleeker, more youthful-looking neckline. Without the eyelid surgery, however, the results wouldn't have been as dramatic. Heavy, droopy eyelids are one of the primary reasons people appear tired and older. This patient now looks alert and refreshed.

Eyelid surgery is a relatively simple operation compared with some other facial plastic surgery procedures I perform in Indiana. That's why I often recommend combining it for patients who are undergoing a facelift or forehead lift, as well as "upgrading" to it for those who want more significant results than they can achieve with non-surgical treatments. Recovery is usually seven to ten days.
