This 34-year-old mother breastfed her only child and wanted to increase the size of her breasts when she visited Dr. Galante at his Schererville office. When she came in for a consultation, she was between a B and a C cup and wanted to increase to a D cup with breast implants inserted by the Indiana plastic surgeon.

After a discussion of her goals, options, and health history with Dr. Galante, she decided to have MENTOR® MP+ saline breast implants placed beneath her pectoral muscles. Because she had slightly asymmetrical breasts, a 440 cc implant was used on the left side and a 500 cc implant on the right.

Breast asymmetry is extremely common among women, although most people don't talk much about it outside a plastic surgeon's office. Dr. Galante often uses implants of slightly different sizes to bring the breasts into better balance.

This patient had her implants placed through the inframmary fold, or IMF, incision. Dr. Galante chooses this incision method in the crease beneath the breast most commonly because it doesn't disrupt nipple sensation. It's also extremely popular because scars are hidden in the natural fold.

This patient now wears a DD/F cup and says she is very pleased with her new look. Dr. Galante reminds his patients that a cup size is only a letter. Patients may have different bra sizes depending on where they shop. Moreover, the ultimate goal is not a specific cup size, but a pretty and natural breast shape.
