This 42-year-old woman came to our Valparaiso office wanting larger breasts. She was in good shape, didn't have children, and wanted to increase her breast size from a 34B to a full D. After her consultation with Dr. Galante, she and the surgeon decided on using Natrelle® 400 cc silicone implants for breast augmentation at our Chesterton, Indiana, surgical facility, Lakeshore Surgicare.

Dr. Galante used an inframammary fold incision, which is the most common for breast augmentation. Dr. Galante prefers the IMF incision in most women, because it doesn't disrupt breast function, and therefore, the ability to breast feed should not be altered. The incision runs along the crease under the breast, so scars aren't immediately apparent.

With her surgeon's guidance, this patient decided to use silicone implants. This material has grown in popularity in recent years as new styles have hit the market. Many patients say they believe silicone has a more natural look and feel compared with saline implants.

Dr. Galante guides his patients on questions of size and material to determine which options best suit each person's body. After this patient's operation, she wore a 34D cup.
