Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) Before & After Case 164

This 59 year old patient presented to our plastic surgery office in Schererville for a consultation to improve the contour of her abdomen. She said there was excess skin and fat and no longer fit well in her clothing. Her photos demonstrate the typical appearance of someone who has had a few pregnancies and some mild weight gain with age; a collection of fat in the lower part of her abdomen and a loosening of her stomach muscles. 

She underwent a tummy tuck at a surgery center in northwest Indiana. This was done as an outpatient under general anesthesia. Her after photos show a significant improvement in her waist. Her scar is still hidden in the garments she uses. One needs to plan ahead for this surgry as the recovery can be several weeks before being very active again. We encourage our patients to be out of bed frequently beginning the day of surgery. Most patients are up and aroud with ease by ten to fourteen days after surgery. Because the muscles are tightenrd, there is a is a lifting restriction of 10 lbs. for six weeks following surgery.
