Breast Asymmetry

Did you know that nearly 90% of women have one breast that’s larger than the other? It’s called breast asymmetry and, as you can see, it’s quite common. In some women, the difference is so slight that you can barely tell but, for others, the difference can be a full bra size or more, causing social and sexual embarrassment, difficulty finding bras and blouses that fit, and low self-esteem. If your breasts as asymmetric and you’re looking for options for correction, I can help you. During your private consultation at my Valparaiso or Schererville plastic surgery office, I will assess … Continue reading

Latisse vs. Lash Extensions

Do you want longer, thicker lashes? In addition to false lashes and ample applications of mascara, there are two more options for thick, long lashes: lash extensions and Latisse. Lash extensions have become the rage over the past few years. Local salons and “eyelash extension” establishments offer a range of lengths and colors. Initial application takes about 1 ½ to 2 hours, and “fills” (maintenance/reapplication) require about 45 minutes to an hour in the technician’s chair about every 3-4 weeks. Luscious Lips in Less Than an Hour

Why Lips Matter There is a primitive part of the brain that is specifically attracted to certain secondary sexual characteristics that imply fertility. It’s believed that we are hard-wired to be attracted to other humans with well-developed secondary sexual characteristics as a means to guarantee the perpetuation of the species. The shape, color, texture, and fullness of a woman’s lips reflect her age and, correspondingly, her fertility. Therefore, as a culture, we’ve come to identify full lips as markers of an attractive, young woman. Since … Continue reading

Men and Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery for men has been increasing steadily over the past 20 years. Men are embracing plastic surgery to regain a more youthful figure and to eliminate some of the facial signs of aging via procedures such as rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation and liposuction. As this infographic (courtesy of Male Plastic Surgery New York) shows, over 1 million cosmetic procedures were performed on men in 2012, an increase of 106% since data was collected in 1997. Why Men Choose Plastic Surgery One of the primary reasons men report that they chose to have cosmetic enhancements is a perceived need to appear as young and virile as … Continue reading

Liquid Facelift: Turn Back the Clock in an Hour!

Have you ever heard the saying that aging brings wisdom? According to the late cartoonist, Tom Wilson, “Wisdom doesn’t necessarily come with age. Sometimes age just shows up all by itself.” And, as you know, wrinkles and other signs of facial aging show up by themselves, too! Patterns of Facial Aging Each of us ages in a specific pattern determined by our DNA. In other words, if one of your parents looked young for their age, you’re likely to be lucky enough to inherit that tendency. If one of your parents developed a turkey neck, you’ll probably do likewise. Lifestyle … Continue reading
