The Perfect Time for a Toned Tummy
Winter weather is here in Indiana, and it’s the perfect time to cuddle up in sweaters and scarves while you work on a flatter, more sculpted abdomen – after all, this is the most popular time for plastic surgery procedures. If you’ve been eating healthy and staying active but are still not satisfied with a sagging and protruding abdomen, a tummy tuck could be the key before the warmer months come back around. Here are some quick facts about this treatment:
- Who’s a good candidate: At our Indiana practice, a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, helps many patients reclaim the more sculpted figure they’ve lost due to aging, pregnancy, or fluctuations in weight. If you are finished having children, are physically healthy, and have reached a stable weight, you may be a good candidate for a firmer, flatter abdomen with this body contouring procedure.
- The recovery process: Recovery varies greatly depending on the individual. Immediately following your procedure, you require a day of bed rest and should wear a compression garment for at least 2 weeks to help reduce swelling and increase comfort. Drain tubes, placed at the time of surgery, assist proper healing and are removed after about a week. You are able to start light activities after the first day but should avoid strenuous exercise for at least 6 weeks. Most patients return to work after 1 to 2 weeks.
- During a tummy tuck, Dr. Galante often combines liposuction or breast enhancement for an even more dramatic result. These can all be done in a single operation for your convenience.
