What is a Mommy Makeover?

A Mommy Makeover is an elective cosmetic surgery procedure to re-design a woman’s breasts and tummy. It treats sagging and/or deflated breasts, tightens the abdominal muscles, and jettisons excess drooping skin and tissues in the abdomen, while simultaneously eliminating most, if not all, stretch marks. This combination procedure includes a breast enhancement (breast augmentation, breast lift or breast reduction), and a tummy tuck. Depending on the woman’s needs, liposuction may also be performed.

Best Candidates for a Mommy Makeover

The ideal candidate for a Mommy Makeover is an adult woman who desires firmer, uplifted breasts and a flatter abdomen. It’s important, as well, to have realistic expectations about a Mommy Makeover. NW Indiana women who are within 10% of their ideal weight, and who have been at a stable weight for at least six months, obtain the best results. If you are a smoker, you must cease smoking for at least two weeks prior to any cosmetic surgery procedure and continue to avoid smoking for at least four weeks afterwards, as smoking inhibits healing.

Having More Children?

Women who anticipate a future pregnancy should wait until their family is completed prior to Mommy Makeoverundergoing a Mommy Makeover, as the stretching of the skin, tissues and abdominal muscles will largely undo the beautiful results.

You Need Not Be a Mommy for a Mommy Makeover

Although called a Mommy Makeover because it’s most often performed to “makeover” a woman’s body from the effects of pregnancy, many of my Indiana Mommy Makeover patients have never been moms. However, with time, many women discover that their breasts have become sagging and deflated and that the tight tummy they enjoyed in previous years has begun to loosen up, resulting in a “muffin top.” A Mommy Makeover can eliminate a muffin top and lift the breasts in the same procedure. Judicious liposuction can also be performed on the thighs and/or abdominal area during a Mommy Makeover to eliminate exercise-resistant areas of fat.

Mommy Makeover After Massive Weight Loss

A Mommy Makeover is an excellent procedure for women who have experienced massive weight loss through diet and exercise or bariatric surgery. When a woman has lost a great deal of weight, her tissues and skin are unable to “shrink” to her much smaller figure. The result is a great deal of loose skin and very droopy, flat breasts. Both problems are effectively remedied through a Mommy Makeover with liposuction as needed.
