In life, it’s the little things that matter. Just ask Louie, a 30-year-old relationship builder for a national bank. He had facial liposuction in Indiana from Dr. Gus Galante and after removing a small volume of excess fat from below his chin, Louie now has even more confidence to reach his dream of one day becoming, as he says, “the biggest independent filmmaker to hit this planet!”
A little extra fatty tissue under the chin may not seem like a big deal to some people, but it caused Louie to be very self-conscious about his appearance. “I’m a little over 6 feet tall and about 210 pounds. I take pretty good care of myself, but that small area of extra fat made me look overweight in person and in pictures.” He thought about cosmetic surgery off and on for many years before deciding to make the change and visiting with a surgeon near where he works in Chicago.
His impression? “That doctor seemed a bit pushy, a bit too overeager to sell me on other procedures like a chin implant. I left his office thinking that I was a bit unsure about the whole cosmetic surgery thing, that maybe I was crazy for wanting to make this change in the first place.”
Is it Crazy to Want to Look Your Best?
Louie thought it over some more and decided to get a second opinion from another surgeon. He came across Dr. Galante’s website while searching the Internet and scheduled an appointment right away. “From the start, I was extremely impressed with Dr. Galante and his staff. I truly felt that they cared about my goals and wanted what’s best for me. Dr. Galante took the time to answer all my questions, and believe me, I had a lot of them.”
Again and again, Louie thought that maybe he was crazy for wanting cosmetic surgery. Indiana plastic surgeon Dr. Galante had his own take on Louie’s perspective. “He said to me, ‘It’s not crazy – this is what I do for a living and I’ve seen the difference plastic surgery can make in a person’s life.’ That point of view really stuck with me, and I knew it was time to make a change for the better.”
Doing His Homework
After his consultation, Louie was pretty sure that Dr. Galante was the surgeon he wanted to perform his surgery. He talked over his plans with a few friends who encouraged him to do some research on Dr. Galante’s practice so he could make the most informed decision. “I called around and talked with a number of references and professional organizations. I probably did more research than most people, but I needed that to put my mind at ease…and to keep my friends off my back!”
His Facial Liposuction
Dr. Galante talked with Louie during his consultation about how much excess fat could be removed with facial liposuction while still producing a natural result. “He was very honest with me upfront,” says Louie. “He said that a subtle improvement would be the best ‘fit’ for my face, and I trusted his opinion even though I came in wanting much more than a slight change.”
Louie’s procedure was performed in about a half an hour at an Indiana cosmetic surgery suite. “I had no pain, and it was over so quickly,” he says. He was sent home about an hour and a half after his procedure was completed.
Recovery after his surgery was extremely easy. The biggest disruption? “I had to wear a neck compression garment for 5 days,” says Louie. “I started my recovery over the weekend and took a few days off work so that I could avoid all my coworkers asking the inevitable questions like, ‘What happened to you?'” He says he’s happy to share his story with anyone who wants to listen, but he didn’t want to cause an unnecessary fuss at work.
Louie experienced so little pain that he still has a bottle of some pretty powerful painkillers collecting dust in his medicine cabinet. “I took a few, but after that I just didn’t need them,” he says. And now that my incisions have fully healed, when I look in the mirror I immediately feel younger and more confident in how I look. A slight change in the shape of my face has made a huge difference in the quality of my life.”
Louie’s Life Lessons
“I don’t want to start sounding like Oprah,” Louie says, “but I really have learned a lot from my surgery experience. I think it’s so important to listen to that inner voice and do the things that will make you feel happy. You won’t go wrong when you invest in yourself. My only regret is not having this surgery years ago, when the fat under my chin first started bothering me.” With his new look and new confidence, Louie is going to strike a pretty dashing figure in the director’s chair as he puts together his first movie masterpiece, once he writes his first script!
