The patient seen here is a 60 year old woman from the Chicago suburbs who came to see Dr. Galante at his Indiana plastic surgery office requesting a tummy tuck to improve the contour of her abdomen. In addition, she wanted to eliminate the bulges on her outer thighs. Her exam revealed a fair amount of lipodystrophy (localized accumulations of fat) in the abdominal and lateral thigh areas. However, she had good skin tone which meant that liposuction would likely be an appropriate treatment option to meet her expectations. An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is chosen for the patient that has more loose and excess skin that would not recoil after the fat was removed by liposuction. Despite her age, this patient’s skin was relatively youthful and elastic, a desirable quality for liposuction procedures. This patient chose to proceed with liposuction to treat the concerns on her abdomen and lateral thighs. This was performed as an outpatient under local anesthesia with sedation at an Indiana surgical center used by Dr. Galante for his plastic surgery procedures. She was employed in an office and was back to work in three days. Although her recovery was rather short, this patient has demonstrated that liposuction is a very safe, effective and minimally invasive procedure. Her before and after photos illustrate the results that can be obtained with liposuction in the properly selected patient. She was extremely satisfied with her new look and mentioned that she went down two dress sizes. If you are interested in a liposuction or body contouring procedure and live in the Northwest Indiana area, call Dr. Galante for a consultation in one of his Indiana plastic surgery offices.
