Sometimes people have a misperception that cosmetic surgery is only for patients in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. But in reality, plastic surgery can help improve the appearance of almost any adult - sometimes in remarkable ways - no matter what their age. For instance, this 61 year old Indiana native wanted cosmetic surgery to rejuvenate her eyes. Eye lift surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is an increasingly popular procedure for mature adults, helping to make the eye look younger and more rested. This patient came to her Indiana cosmetic surgery consultation concerned with her baggy upper eyelids and bulges in her lower eyelids. She was in good overall health and had great skin tone - her eye appearance just needed some attention. I noted excess skin on the upper eyelids, a condition known as dermatochalasis. In addition, she had fat prolapse of the lower lids, meaning that fat tissue had moved out of place and was causing the puffy or bulging appearance. I performed her surgery on an outpatient basis at my cosmetic surgery center adjacent to my office in Indiana. Because no skin removal was required on the lower eyelids, I used a transconjunctival approach. This method involves making an incision on the inside of the eyelid. The biggest benefit of a transconjunctival approach is that no visible scar is left on the facial skin. As you can see from her post-op photos, this patient looks much more awake, her eye color is brighter, and she has a more youthful appearance. To see how facial plastic surgery can improve your look, schedule a consultation at one of my Indiana offices today. Patient Gender: Female |
