This pleasant 26 year old patient presented to our Indiana plastic surgery practice desiring breast implants. She has been self conscious about her body as she felt her breast size was not proportional to the rest of her body. Her bra size was a 34B, and her desire was to fully fit into a C cup. She was otherwise healthy with no coexisting medical problems, and had not had any children yet. On exam she was 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighed 130 pounds. I noticed that she had a slight tuberous shape to her breasts. This means the breasts are narrow, wide apart, and contain a tight crease under the breast mound. This causes the breast to protrude forward stretching out the areola. She chose to use a silicone gel implant, because these implants had a more natural look and feel. A breast augmentation in Indiana was performed with a periareolar (around the nipple) incision. The implant was placed above the muscle to help correct the tuberous shape. Her recovery was uneventful. She is now fitting into a 36D bra and feels more confident in her clothing, having more options for cute tops and blouses. Her breast shape is rounder and natural with improved cleavage. |
