Facelift Information in Indiana
Before and After Facelift
 Your results may vary. |
Time and gravity tend to take their toll on our faces causing our skin to wrinkle, lines and furrows to form, and muscles and tissue to lose their firmness. In Indiana, facelift procedures can remove excess, sagging or slackened skin, tighten underlying facial tissues and remove excess fat in the neck and jowls to reverse the signs of aging. At both our Schererville and Valparaiso, Indiana, plastic surgery offices, Dr. Galante performs mini and standard face lift procedures to restore your youthful and vibrant appearance.
Every facelift in Indiana begins with a thorough consultation. Dr. Galante will discuss your goals and desired outcome with you during your examination. A full medical history is necessary for Dr. Galante to determine the proper procedure and the most beneficial course of action to achieve your desired results. You are encouraged to ask any questions you have or to bring up any concerns you may have about the surgery. Dr. Galante will explain in detail how your procedure will be performed, any pertinent risks and the recovery process based on your specific surgery.
At the surgicenters used by our Indiana plastic surgery offices, facelifts are performed on an outpatient basis, meaning you can return home after your procedure. You will need someone to drive you home and take care of you for the first few days. Depending on the type of procedure, you may be sedated with either local or general anesthesia. All of these factors will be discussed in your consultation prior to scheduling your facelift surgery.

Typically, for a standard facelift, incisions are made near the temple just behind the hairline. The incision will continue in front of the ear, around the earlobe and continue back behind the ear into the hair. Mini facelifts need less of an incision and will depend on the extent of skin removal necessary to achieve the desired result. If there is need of additional lifting of the neck, a small incision may be necessary beneath the chin. The incisions will be sutured and bandaged for your return home.
Recovery from facelift surgery in Indiana is usually faster than most people expect. Pain is typically minimal, and any discomfort can be easily managed with medication. There may be some swelling the first few days, and bruising will diminish after a couple of weeks. You may experience sensations of tightness and numbness which will gradually subside during the first month after surgery.
Scarring is inevitable, but the incision site is usually concealed behind the hairline or in a natural skin crease. Until the scars mature and minimize, makeup can be worn to conceal them.
For Indiana patients, results from facelift surgery typically last 10 to 15 years, which is an exceptional result from cosmetic surgery. Though a facelift will not stop the aging process, the results essentially turn the clock back up to ten years giving you a lifted, well rested, thriving look. Many patients that have a facelift in Indiana, also have skin treatments like chemical peels to enhance their skin's quality and appearance.
Not everyone is a candidate for a facelift in Indiana. Having realistic expectations about the impact surgery will have on your life is important, and other factors like skin and muscle tone may need to be considered. Dr. Galante will discuss your expectations and evaluate your case during your consultation.
Since a facelift is a cosmetic procedure, it is not covered by insurance and fees and expenses are solely the responsibility of the patient. For your convenience, we offer links to patient financing online.
